5 Free Things To Do In London With Kids This Winter
The Winter months ahead are the perfect occasion to spend time with family, explore the city and try new activities. London has plenty to offer to ensure that you and your kids can have an enjoyable and budget-friendly experience this festive season.
If you’re not sure where to begin, here are some of our suggestions for free things to do with your little ones.
1. Discover the Southbank Centre
The Southbank Centre is the UK’s largest arts centre and often hosts free family events and performances, especially during the holiday season. We suggest checking their schedule for kid-friendly activities to make sure you’re not missing out on any fun.
Whilst you’re in the area it’s also worth popping to see the skateboarders on the South Bank along the Thames.
2. Attend Holly Jolly Brunswick In Bloomsbury
The Brunswick Centre, located in the heart of Bloomsbury, opposite Russell Square station, is known for its free family-friendly events. This year is no exception and if you missed their November event, be sure to add their December one to your diary. Holly Jolly Brunswick will be hosted on Thursday 7th December and is a free event with plenty of festive cheer including Santa, his cheeky elves, stilt walkers, a festive magician and so much more. You can find out more information on their social media channels.
3. Visit London’s Christmas Lights
London is known for its stunning Christmas lights. Take a walk through central London to see the dazzling displays on Regent Street, Oxford Street, Covent Garden, and other locations and don’t forget to stop off for a cheeky Hot Chocolate on your travels to make it really feel like Christmas.
4. Enjoy Plenty Of Free Entertainment In Covent Garden
When it comes to unparalleled entertainment for adults and kids, Covent Garden is usually a wonderfully fun option. With plenty of street entertainment in the Piazza, you can enjoy everything from human statues, acrobats, magicians and singers. Plus there are plenty of eateries nearby for when your little ones get hungry.
5. Visit Platform 9 3/4 at Kings Cross
If your little ones are fans of Harry Potter, then whilst you’re out and about why not visit Platform 9 3/4 at Kings Cross Station so they can see for themselves how Harry got to Hogwarts?
There might be a little bit of a queue but it’s free to take a photo with the trolley dashing through the wall.
